Classic Hamptons style kitchen design is open and inviting often with large central island benches that become a gathering point when entertaining. This is a crucial guiding star with kitchen renovations in mind.
From Long Island in Suffolk County, New York. The Hamptons is a lighter and simpler version of the French provincial style, with cleaner lines, a lot less detail, (such as the corbels, scrolls fretwork.). Usually opting for some simple capping on the top of high cabinets, perhaps a dressed up range hood cabinet above the cooking surface with some light capping. Doors are usually a mild “shaker” style door
Interior design consists of usually white kitchens, but dark contrast colours have been brought in to play in recent years. Stone benches with simple square edges and solid timber benches as well. Curvy handles, but only slightly. Splashbacks can be tiled or porcelain large format.
Cabinetry – Hamptons Style
Featuring white cabinetry with impeccable iconic detail, The Hamptons style incorporates a frame around the perimeter of the pane – commonly known in kitchen design as shaker-style kitchen cabinets.
Inclusions that fit within a Hamptons style kitchens are high ceilings, exposed beams, and prioritising natural light from windows and skylights that reflect light around the room.
Large bold kitchen lights – like a chandelier, large lampshades or pendant lights – are featured above the central, island-style kitchen bench.
This is accentuated by contrasting dark wood benchtops and floorboards that makes the kitchen feel wider and more open plan. Add some bar stools for the full effect.
Benchtops and Splashbacks Hamptons Style
Although The Hamptons style kitchen uses natural marble benchtops as a stylistic cornerstone, it doesn’t preclude you from adding a touch of your own individuality, with an infinite amount of colours, textures and patterns available.
Splashbacks are often based on classic ceramic subway tiles and feature light colour palettes. Off-whites or pale greys, greens or blues are popular choices. Shelving can include open shelves or cabinets with glass doors.
